New art therapy equipment
Our Art Therapy Team was excited to be awarded a generous grant from Muswellbrook Shire Council, providing them with a range of visual art supplies to be used during art therapy sessions with clients.
What exactly is art therapy?
Art therapy draws on the therapeutic benefits of the creative process to support physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Art therapy is suitable for all ages, with sessions tailored to support the unique goals and requirements of each client. Our team utilise different types of visual arts mediums, such as drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, fibre and even nature-based art. The best part – no prior knowledge or artistic ability is required!
“It’s fantastic having so many new materials to work with during client sessions.”
How does art therapy help?
Art therapy can be particularly beneficial for people who may struggle to verbally communicate their needs or those who have experienced trauma. By creating a supportive environment for self-expression, art therapy allows for the safe exploration of complex emotions, thoughts, feelings and experiences.

Our new equipment
Our Art Therapy Team now has access to a great range of oil and watercolour paints, assorted paint brushes, pencils, canvases and other equipment such as paper, erasers and drop sheets. One of the team’s favourite additions are our new pack of ‘Easy Painters’. These mess-free paints are ideal for little hands or for those with additional needs. Amy, one of our art therapists, said “It’s fantastic having so many new materials to work with during client sessions.”
